Sian Ka`an

Sian Ka`an- A treasure of wonders

If interaction with nature is your thing, and you`ve decided to head south towards Tulum to Sian Ka`an which, by the way means `Where the sky is born` for your Mexican adventure, then get ready for excitement. Established in 1986, the Sian Ka`an Bioshere Reserve has been recognized for its sublime natural beauty. It is home to thousands of species of Flora and Fauna and in 1987 was declared a world heritage site by UNESCO. With over 5280 km2, it remains one of the largest protected areas in the Mexican State of Quintana Roo just a few kilometers from the famed Ruiens of Tulum. Sian Ka`an is home to more than 300 species of birds, lagoons, mangrove, white sand beaches, jungle, pristine waters, and known archeological sites, all of which are home to dolphins, sea turtles, crocodiles, pelicans, iguanas, keel-billed toucan, spider monkeys and much more. Inside Sian Ka`an there`s also Punta Allen; a small charming town whose population lives from sustainable tourism and lobster catching. This tour will take you among coastal jungle for 30 minutes until reaching a boat where you will continue your journey by water. You will explore the Boca Paila Lagoon and the point where it connects with the Caribbean Sea, `Ascension Bay`, visit some colonies of nesting birds such as frigates, spoonbills, egrets, herons and then you will learn about the importance of mangroves, look for sea turtles, star fish or Asteroidea, dolphins in their natural habitat, reptiles, Yucatan mammals and so much more.

After all this exciting activity you will arrive at a base station in Punta Allen to savor a delicious Caribbean lunch and enjoy free time to walk or relax Caribbean style.

For Whom? Sian Ka`an Adventure is a tour made for the visitor interested in exploring the Caribbean coast (culture, flora and fauna) while having fun and learning about these truly unique ecosystems. We do not recommend this tour for pregnant women.

Chichen Itza

Chichen Itza

The focal point of Chichen Itza is the 90-foot-tall Temple of Kukulkan, also known as El Castillo, or the castle. The Mayas, which invented the concept of zero, also mastered astrology. They created the temple as a physical calendar aligned with the sun. It`s designed with such perfection that in the late afternoon on the spring and autumn equinoxes, the sun casts shadows depicting the plumes of a serpent that slithers down the steps. The creature`s body eventually links with the stone serpent`s head at the bottom of one of the staircases.
