It’s almost always warm in Cancun and Playa del Carmen due to the sub-tropical climate. The annual average temperate is around 27 degrees Celcius or 80 degrees Farenheit. Overall humidity level is also high, often around 90%. However, whenever you come to Riviera Maya, you will almost always experience nice beach weather!
During spring time, the ocean is a little calmer and warmer as temperatures rises. During the summer it can get quite hot in Riviera Maya. The ocean is the calmest and the water is very warm so you can stay in for hours. It does not cool off during evenings and when the occasional rain comes it’s short and heavy – usually in the afternoons. With fall comes the tropical storms and usually the rain is heavier and more persistent, but it is still warm and you can enjoy the beautiful beaches with less tourists. Winter months are the coolest months and the most comfortable. Evenings can get at bit chilly at times but the sun is still very strong during the day time.
